If you have ever attended one of my yoga classes, you would know that I often tell my students who are having problems with a certain yoga pose to “do the best you can, even if only in your mind’s eye.”
Our mind’s eye, also called the third eye, the inner eye, a mystical invisible eye located on our forehead providing perception beyond our ordinary sight. Known as the sixth chakra or the “seeing” chakra. It is in my mind’s eye that I find the flow to wisdom, insight and profound perception that deepens my interconnection to my soul and spiritual connection. During a resent retreat I attended and while in a deep mediation, I found myself in my mind’s eye seeing vivid colors and geometric patterns of all sizes and shapes. When quite unexpectedly, I saw what looked like a Ferris Wheel seat, one of the old metal seat types with the extended footrest. And sitting in this seat, I vividly saw my Dad and Mom, looking so joyful. They simultaneously both glanced over at me with big smiles on their faces as if to let me know, they were fine, content, and happy on the other side. Just as unexpectedly as they had arrived, the ride moved forward and they were off, gone again, into the abyss. Interestingly enough, when I looked up the spiritual meaning of a Ferris Wheel, it represents the cycles of life and evolution. While I have always been one to sense and feel spirit, this was one of the clearest visions of spirit I have seen. Where I know many non-believers would say that it was just my imagination, my mind making things up. We who believe, we who know, trust, and understand that within our mind’s eye, inner eye and deep perception, we can see extraordinary real things. And so, I ask you today, to close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths. Relax and do the best you can. Go into your mind’s eye. What profound vision will be brought to you this day. What do you see? Have faith. Believe. Namaste’ Nancy Lombardo
