I have a calendar with daily inspirational quotations that I begin my day with, after I feed our cat, Lucy. The December 5th quote felt like a good way to begin this message: “The best part about life? Every morning you have a new opportunity to become a happier version of yourself.” As we begin a new year our 8th principle reminds us that the reality we are living in is of our own creation. Choose to create a happier version of yourself as you greet each new day.
And if you find yourself, like I have experienced, taking two steps forward and one backward or even if it’s one step forward and two backward I would encourage you to watch the 1993 movie, “Groundhog Day”. (Groundhog Day, February 2nd has a special significance for me as it’s my birthday and this year my 75th). Bill Murray’s character in the movie gets caught living Groundhog Day again and again but he eventually realizes what is happening and he learns to make adjustments. Our 5th principle reminds us that our “Spiritual progression is eternal and infinite” so never get discouraged if you think you are not “getting anywhere” because your spiritual self can only go one way in each new day and that is forward!
